Every work of art begins before it becomes visible. The Latin title Cogitatio Artium may be read as “contemplation of the arts” or “reflection on the arts.” Cogitatio encompasses thought, reflection, contemplation, and the inward act of considering; artium refers to “the arts.”
Where Thought Becomes Art
In this exhibition, the phrase becomes more than a reflection upon art: it evokes the inner realm from which art emerges—where perception, intuition, memory, emotion, and imagination begin to seek form. The German subtitle, Wo der Gedanke zu Kunst wird—“Where Thought Becomes Art”—extends this idea toward transformation.
Key Highlights
Bringing together fourteen artistic voices
The exhibition presents a spectrum of visual languages ranging from figuration and portraiture to abstraction, symbolism, and imagined landscapes. Human identity appears fragmented, masked, remembered, or reimagined; bodies embody movement and tension, while faces open spaces of psychological encounter.
Organic structures, animals, plants, and hybrid beings create symbolic worlds between observation and imagination.
Cosmic and atmospheric spaces extend perception beyond the immediately recognizable, while abstraction allows color, line, rhythm, and texture to become forms of thought in themselves.
Memory, transformation, solitude, resilience, nature, identity, and movement recur throughout the exhibition.
A thought may become a face; an emotion, a field of color; movement, a line; memory, a structure; observation, an invented world.
Cogitatio Artium therefore approaches art not simply as an object, but as an act of becoming—a passage from the intangible to the tangible, from inner experience to shared perception. Art begins precisely within this threshold: where thought ceases to remain invisible and becomes form.
