Sabrina Vivian Groh, born in Zwickau in 1984, is a German contemporary artist working across drawing, graphic art, textile art, objects, and mixed media. She studied graphic arts at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle from 2008 to 2015 and later completed a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Textile Art and Design at the Academy of Applied Arts in Schneeberg, studying with Professor Jörg Steinbach.
Groh’s work addresses memory, fragmentation, time, perception, and the traces left by bodies, language, and history. She combines drawing with waxed paper, gauze, embroidery, perforation, graphite, collage, and fragile found elements. Earlier ‚Memory Boxes‘ transformed graphic techniques into spatial containers for recollection; later textile works use layering, absence, and repetition to ask what remains when an image, text, or physical presence disappears. Poetic and biblical texts also inform parts of her practice. Her surfaces function almost like archives of lived or imagined experience, balancing intimacy with material precision.
Groh has exhibited internationally at the Tokyo International Art Fair, Lux Art Gallery in Trieste, the Premio Combat Prize in Italy, and in the MAMAG Modern Art Museum context in Austria. She received the MAMAG Modern Art Prize in 2015 and first prize in Graphic Art LYNX in Trieste in 2016. Her work is represented in the Klingspor Museum collection in Offenbach. More recently, she participated in ‚Fusion of Horizons‘ at Hong Art Museum in Chongqing and joins ‚Seelenlandschaften‘ in Greiz in 2026.
