These works will be exhibited
Wang Shaojun, born in 1959 in Tianjin, China, he graduated in 1982 from the Department of Sculpture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He currently teaches at the Central Academy of Fine Arts as a professor and doctoral supervisor in art.
He was formerly the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is also a member of the National Committee for Urban Sculptures, an expert for the appraisal of art collected by the National Art Museum of China, a member of the Exhibition Review Committee at the National Art Museum of China, Executive Director of the Chinese Sculpture Institute, and a member of the Sculpture Art Committee of the Beijing Artists Association.
His early works were primarily sculptures. In recent years, he has achieved significant success in the field of watercolor painting. Recently, he began creating jade carvings. He has made great achievements in various artistic fields. His sculptures have been exhibited in many important exhibitions in China and worldwide, attracting considerable attention.
He has created large public artworks for many cities, such as the group sculptures for the 55th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Japanese War at the Lugou Bridge, the memorial sculptures at Bayi Square in Nanchang, Jiangxi, and more. These works were awarded the Outstanding Work Award at the National Urban Sculpture Construction Achievement Exhibition and the China Public Art Academic Award. He participated in the „Internal Uniformity“ exhibition as part of the 2019 European Tour at the Mark Rothko Art Center in Latvia, the 2017-2018 National Tour of the „It’s Me“ Wang Shaojun Art Exhibition, and held a major solo exhibition titled „Mentality: Wang Shaojun’s Art Solo Exhibition“ at the Central Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum in 2015, which toured many locations.
His works are collected by major institutions such as the International Olympic Committee, the National Art Museum of China, the CAFA Art Museum, Tsinghua University, the National Grand Theater, the Chinese Film Museum, the Beijing International Sculpture Garden, the Changchun International Sculpture Garden, the Fuzhou International City Sculpture Garden, the Shanghai Municipal Government, and other major national exhibition halls and government agencies. He has published works such as „Advancements in Configurations – Wang Shaojun Art Work“ and „Understanding Sculpture,“ as well as „Knowing Sculpture,“ which is used as a standard textbook in the middle school curriculum, and „Sculpture Texture of Clothing,“ a fundamental textbook for the sculpture course at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
Wang Shaojun, geboren 1959 in Tianjin, China. 1982 machte er seinen Abschluss an der Abteilung für Bildhauerei an der Zentralen Akademie der Schönen Künste. Derzeit lehrt er an der Zentralen Akademie der Schönen Künste und ist Professor und Doktorvater für Kunst.
Er war früher stellvertretender Sekretär des Parteikomitees der Zentralen Akademie der Schönen Künste.
Außerdem ist er Mitglied des Nationalen Ausschusses für städtische Skulpturen, Experte für die Bewertung der vom Nationalen Kunstmuseum Chinas gesammelten Kunstwerke, Mitglied des Ausschusses für die Bewertung von Ausstellungen des Nationalen Kunstmuseums Chinas, geschäftsführender Direktor des Chinesischen Bildhauerinstituts und Mitglied des Ausschusses für Bildhauerkunst des Pekinger Künstlerverbandes.
